Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

Masar Alburhan (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a school transport tracking service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the families and drivers who use the app.

  1. Information we collect

Account information: your phone number and password, provided to you by us so you can sign in. Accounts are created and managed by us — you cannot register yourself inside the app.

Student information: a limited set of details needed to run the bus service, such as the student’s first name, assigned route, bus, grade, and daily ride status (waiting, boarded, arrived, dropped off, or absent).

Driver location: while a driver has a run in progress, the location of the driver’s device. See “Location data” below.

Notification token: if you allow notifications, a device registration token issued by Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, together with your device type and the language you have chosen in the app. This token identifies the device to deliver a message to. See “Notifications” below.

Usage information: basic technical data such as app version and device type, used to keep the app working reliably.

  2. How we use information

To sign you in and show the screens for your role — parent and driver.

To display real-time boarding and drop-off status for the students linked to your account.

To show a driver their own position on the route map, and to let us see where a bus is while it is on a run.

To send notifications about your own child’s ride — for example when they board the bus, arrive at school, or are dropped off — and when a trip on their route starts or finishes.

To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

  3. Location data

Drivers: while a driver has a run in progress, the app collects the precise location of the driver’s device — coordinates, accuracy, speed, and heading — and sends it to Masar Alburhan so we can see where the bus is. Collection continues while the app is in the background and while the phone’s screen is locked. On Android an ongoing notification is shown for the whole run, and on iOS the system location indicator stays visible, so a driver can always tell when their location is being reported.

Collection begins when the driver starts a run and stops as soon as the run is completed. We do not collect a driver’s location outside an active run, and our servers reject any location sent when no run is in progress.

Parents: the app does not collect location from parents’ devices. Parents do not receive a live map of the bus; they see boarding and trip-progress status instead.

Routes: route and stop locations are configured by Masar Alburhan and are shown to the assigned driver on the route map. They are not shared with parents.

Who receives it: driver location is sent only to Masar Alburhan’s own servers. It is not shared with parents, schools, advertisers, or any other third party, and it is never sold. Our system keeps the most recent reported position for each route.

  4. Notifications

With your permission, the app sends push notifications to parents about their own child’s ride status and about trips starting and finishing on their child’s route. Notifications are optional. If you decline them, or turn them off later in your device settings, the rest of the app continues to work normally — status is still shown on screen whenever the app is open.

To deliver them we use Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging. We store a device registration token, your device type, and your chosen language, so that a message reaches the right device in the right language. The token identifies a device, not a person by name, and we use it only to send these notifications. It is never used for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

A notification contains only the student’s first name and a short status line, such as that they have boarded the bus. It contains no location, no address, and no contact details. Notifications are sent only to the parents linked to that student.

The token is removed when you sign out, and tokens that are no longer valid are deleted. Because a phone can be handed on or shared, signing out is what stops that device receiving anything further about your child.

  5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. Information is visible only to the people who need it to run the service: the driver assigned to a route, and the parents linked to a student. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the app, or where required by law.

The one service provider that receives personal information is Google, through Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers notifications on our behalf. It receives the device registration token and the text of the notification — a student’s first name and a short status line. Driver location is never sent to it.

  6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the service, and as required by applicable law.

  7. Children’s privacy

The app is used by adults — parents, drivers, and staff — on behalf of students. Student data is limited to what is needed for transport and is only accessible to authorised users. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts.

  8. Security

Signing in requires a phone number and password, and connections to our servers are protected. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your login details private.

  9. Your choices

You can request access to or correction of your information, or deletion of your account, by contacting us using the details below. Drivers can stop location reporting at any time by completing the run, or by turning off location permission for the app in their device settings.

You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and signing out removes this device’s notification token from our servers.

  11. Changes to this policy
